Accessing our food bank
Location and Operating Hours:
Our food pantry is located at 37 Cookstown Road in St. John’s.
Drop In: Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 AM - 12:50 PM. You do not need to call ahead.
By appointment: We offer appointment-only hours on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Appointments can be made online or by phone at (709) 722-9225.
How to register:
You do not need to pre-register. When you arrive, our Intake Coordinator will register you in our client management system, Link2Feed. You will be asked a series of questions about yourself and your household. These questions are for statistical purposes only; they do not affect your eligibility for support.
The intake/registration process takes about 5-10 minutes.
What to bring:
Please bring MCP cards for all members of the household. If you do not have an MCP card, please bring another form of government-issued identification. You must bring ID for all household members each time you visit our food bank.
You may also wish to bring your own bags to carry your food hamper. If you don’t have any, or you forget them, don’t worry—we have lots to share!
Frequency of visits:
All food banks in our region are connected through a central database managed by Newfoundland and Labrador’s provincial food banking association, Community Food Sharing Association.
At Bridges to Hope, you can visit us up to twice a month: once for a full food hamper (4 days of food), and once for an emergency top-up (24 hours of food).
Food selection:
Much of the food we offer is canned or shelf-stable. As part of our commitment to nutritious food options, we also offer fresh items including fruits and vegetables, eggs, bread, and homemade meals.
When you drop by in person or book an appointment online, you will select the food items you wish to receive from a list of available items. If you have allergies or dietary restrictions, please tell us at the time of intake.
We rely on donations to keep our shelves stocked, so all items are subject to availability.
Feedback:
Bridges to Hope is committed to continually improving service delivery. We recognize that from time to time there may be inquiries, concerns or complaints, and we believe our stakeholders have the right to tell us about them. If you would like to share your feedback, please contact us at info@bridgestohope.ca or (709) 722-9225, drop a note in the suggestion box in our waiting room, or fill out our anonymous online survey.
