Overview

‍Bridges to Hope is a food aid centre located at 37 Cookstown Road, St. John’s. Our mission is to provide dignified and accessible assistance to our neighbours experiencing food insecurity. Serving an average of 1,500 total individuals per month, we are dedicated to providing low-barrier emergency food assistance to individuals and families in the St. John’s Metro region.

‍Mobile Food Bank Coordinators will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of a mobile food bank delivery service in the St. John’s Metro region. This service will increase access to emergency food assistance for community members experiencing specified barriers to attending in-person services.

‍These roles are funded through the Job Creation Partnerships program as administered by the Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development. Please review eligibility criteria carefully.


Key Responsibilities

  • ‍Coordinate the launch of the mobile food bank service serving the St. John’s Metro area, from initial planning through implementation and evaluation

  • ‍Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, goals, KPIs, and reporting processes

  • ‍Build and maintain relationships with community partners and establish effective referral and communication pathways

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers to ensure safe, welcoming, and reliable service delivery

  • Coordinate program logistics, including delivery schedules and routes, volunteer support, equipment, food, and food-handling supplies

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, privacy, confidentiality, and other required procedures and training

  • Coordinate food hamper deliveries and ensure services are accessible to eligible community members

  • Develop and maintain registration, intake, and reporting systems, including use of Client Management Software

  • ‍Gather and respond to participant and volunteer feedback through surveys and other engagement methods

  • ‍Monitor program demand, capacity, KPIs, and feedback, identifying opportunities to improve and adapt the service

  • ‍Collect, organize, and analyze program data to evaluate outcomes and inform recommendations

  • ‍Document lessons learned and support a smooth transition of program knowledge, resources, and responsibilities to staff and volunteers


Eligibility Criteria

‍Eligible candidates must:

  • ‍Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident legally entitled to work in Canada;

  • Meet the definition of EI-eligible;

  • ‍Be approved by the Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development under Section 25 of the Employment Insurance Act as insured participants who are active EI claimants;

  • Have an employment plan that identifies that this Job Creation Partnership supports a reasonable occupational goal;

  • Have a drivers licence with clear driving abstract (preferred)


Working Conditions

  • This is an in-person role at Bridges to Hope’s main office (37 Cookstown Road, St. John’s), with some travel required throughout the St. John’s Metro region

  • Duration: 52 weeks

  • Hours: 35 hours per week (exact working hours to be determined with participants and in accordance with program needs)

  • Compensation: Weekly stipend of $729. Please be advised all income from employment under Job Creation Partnerships is non-insurable under the Employment Insurance Act. Participants who are active claimants in receipt of Employment Insurance Part I benefits will continue to receive these benefits until the end of their benefit period.
